Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Railway circulation in some parts of the center-south Benguela Province are suspended indefinitely, due to the heavy rains recorded in that region of the country, the Lobito Atlantic Railway joint venture (LAR), informed on Sunday.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a press release from LAR, the rain caused serious damage in the railway, especially in the vicinity of the Halo River, located 123 kilometers away, between the Cubal and Caimbambo stations.<\/p>\n

Although the bridge’s structure was not directly affected, a technical inspection is underway for a detailed assessment of the situation.<\/p>\n

LAR also reported that the bridge over the Cavaco River, near the city of Benguela, is also affected due to flooding, and a detailed assessment will be carried out as soon as conditions on the ground allow.<\/p>\n

As a result of the situation, rail transportation on the affected sections has been suspended while specialized technical teams conduct a full assessment to determine the extent of the damage and define possible corrective measures.<\/p>\n

The rail company ensures that they are coordinating the resumption of the circulation with the local provincial government as well as with the Benguela Railway (CFB) to ensure that the safety of operations, field teams, and specific communities is the top priority at this time.<\/p>\n

LAR assures that it will continue to monitor the evolving situation and will disseminate new updates whenever there are relevant developments.<\/p>\n
