Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the ruling MPLA expressed on Tuesday deep sorrow for the victims of the intense rainfall that hit the province of Benguela and caused the Cavaco River to overflow.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a message of condolence, the MPLA’s governing body lamented that the misfortune caused the loss of human lives, the displacement of families and great material damage.<\/p>\n

The Political Bureau also expressed its full solidarity with the affected families, reaffirming its unconditional support to the Executive in protecting the populations and in mobilizing all the necessary means to mitigate the effects of this calamity.<\/p>\n

It also reaffirmed support to the government in actions on behalf of the displaced and in accelerating efforts to restore living conditions in the affected areas.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the Political Bureau welcomes the prompt intervention of civil protection agencies, local authorities, and defense and security forces, whose commitment has been crucial in assisting the population and called for continued coordinated, effective, and supportive response.<\/p>\n

It stated that the rains, which are also affecting other provinces of the country, require all Angolans to show a spirit of unity, mutual aid, and collective responsibility.<\/p>\n

The MPLA underscored that it will continue, alongside the government, to work tirelessly to strengthen public policies for prevention, land use planning, and emergency response, ensuring greater resilience in the face of extreme weather events.<\/p>\n

The party reaffirmed that at this difficult time, its confidence in the Angolan people’s ability to overcome adversity, united around the values of solidarity, work, and hope for a better future.<\/p>\n
