{"id":98994,"date":"2026-04-16T10:25:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T10:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/diamond-sector-accounts-for-35pct-of-mining-rights-in-angola"},"modified":"2026-04-16T10:25:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T10:25:08","slug":"diamond-sector-accounts-for-35pct-of-mining-rights-in-angola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/diamond-sector-accounts-for-35pct-of-mining-rights-in-angola","title":{"rendered":"Diamond Sector Accounts for 35Pct of Mining Rights in Angola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>The National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM) controls 165 titles issued for the diamond segment, representing 35.3 percent of the 467 mining licenses granted nationwide.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>According to the agency&#8217;s statistical report, presented on Tuesday in Luanda by senior technician Luzayadio Dikiesse, the sector has grown by one new title compared to the same period last year, bringing the total number of valid projects to 91.<\/p>\n<p>Of these, 53 are for prospecting, reconnaissance, and geological research activities, while 38 are for exploration, specifically extraction and processing.<\/p>\n<p>The report specifies that there are 74 expired titles in the diamond sector, of which 12 are for prospecting and 62 for exploration; some of these are in the process of being renewed.<\/p>\n<p>Geospatial analysis indicates that Lunda Norte remains dominant with 49 concessions, 27 of which are for prospecting and 22 for exploration. This is followed by Lunda Sul with 20 projects and Malanje with 11.<\/p>\n<p>ANRM mapping also identifies activities in the provinces of Cuanza Sul (5), Bie\u0301 (4), Huambo (1) and Hui\u0301la (1).<\/p>\n<p>Of the 91 active projects, 46 are fully operational, 18 are in the prospecting phase, 28 are in the exploration phase and 27 are in the mobilisation phase.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, 20 projects are in the restructuring phase, while four are paralysed.<\/p>\n<p>Luzayadio Diakiesse highlighted that the agency recently modified the mining rights of the Funda Project, transitioning it from the prospecting to the exploration phase.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the sector&#8217;s growth, Luzayadio Diakiesse stated that the regulatory authority (ANRM) is concerned about companies failing to submit activity reports.<\/p>\n<p>The national agency for mineral resources reiterates the obligation for exploration rights holders to submit updated workforce and operational development data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Angola<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
