{"id":99106,"date":"2026-04-19T09:25:33","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T09:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/angola-defends-redefinition-of-eu-africa-cooperation-model"},"modified":"2026-04-19T09:56:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T09:56:29","slug":"angola-defends-redefinition-of-eu-africa-cooperation-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/angola-defends-redefinition-of-eu-africa-cooperation-model","title":{"rendered":"Angola Defends Redefinition of Eu\/Africa Cooperation Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>Angola\u2019s Finance Minister Vera Daves de Sousa, on Wednesday in Washington, reiterated her country\u2019s position in favor of redefining the cooperation model between the African and European continents.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The minister made the statement during a round table of Finance Ministers from the African Union and the European Union, within the framework of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which end on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Vera Daves said the traditional models of cooperation between the two continents are becoming insufficient to deal with current challenges.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The current model of cooperation between our countries needs to be rethought and updated in a more aligned way, with the need for profound changes,&#8221; she said, recalling that the world is experiencing a context marked by geopolitical fragmentation, increasing fiscal pressures and changes in the configuration of economies.<\/p>\n<p>The minister called for the need to establish a relationship that promotes inclusive and sustainable growth, creates jobs, stimulates the development of local skills, and improves taxation systems.<\/p>\n<p>She stressed that the world is changing rapidly and that Africa is gaining increasing relevance in many aspects, so the European Union will need to focus more on the &#8220;cradle continent,&#8221; including on political, energy, and economic issues.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If we can move forward, we can break a negative cycle and replace it with a more positive one, with mutually beneficial solutions: more education and more stable economic conditions,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p>The Angolan minister highlighted Africa\u2019s potential to become an important market for new exports, with numerous investment opportunities, especially in Portuguese-speaking countries such as Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe.<\/p>\n<p>However, the minister said, there is still room for improvement, especially in access to financing, cooperation between financial institutions, and the creation of mechanisms that facilitate the identification and financing of relevant projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that Africa will become even more relevant on the global stage, and that the path involves a combination of economic cooperation and active diplomacy,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the Angolan delegation, which is participating in the Spring Meetings, fulfilled an intense work agenda, having participated in thematic sessions, bilateral meetings, and meetings with senior figures from Bank of America and with investors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Angola<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
