MOTOGP: Miguel Oliveira optimistic for the race

Africa-Press – Botswana. Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (KTM) said yesterday that he believed that today’s race, at the Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix, “will be better” than qualifying, in which he was 17th.

“Qualifying was tough. We knew it would be difficult to get through to Q2 (second qualifying phase) and we didn’t have enough margin to do so”, said the rider from Almada, quoted by the KTM press office.

The Portuguese driver failed to get past the first qualifying phase, Q1, where he set the seventh time, running in 1.29.613 minutes, 0.382 seconds from the fastest of that phase, the Spanish Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia). That way, Oliveira will start from 17th place on the grid.

“We will analyze what we can improve tomorrow (Sunday). I’m sure the race will be better, which is usual, so we have to make a good start and recover some places”, concluded Miguel Oliveira.

Italian Enea Bastianini (Ducati) won the first pole position of his career, running in 1.28.772 minutes, beating compatriot Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) by 0.024 seconds, with Australian Jack Miller (Ducati) third, 0.109 Bastianini seconds.
