Africa-Press – Botswana. The proposed hospital for Kanye will be constructed through Transitional National Development Plan.
The hospital has been been allocated a plot at 33 hectares at Mpodi Ward in Goo Ruele.
When addressing residents at Mongala ward, Kanye South MP Dr Lemogang Kwape said that the place earmarked for the hospital was far, on the outskirts of the village , therefore would not effectively serve the residents.
Some residents have proposed Kanye Show groung area as ideal for the new hospital.
Though the proposed location at Kanye show ground measure 28 hectares, Dr Kwape was of the view that the location was appropriate since it was located at the centre of the village.
Dr Kwape advised that placing the hospital at the Show Grounds would be easily accessible, as opposed to placing it at Mpodi wards, which was on the outskirt of the village.
“I will however continue to engage with the relevant authorities in an effort of ensuring that such considerations are heard, with the aim of facilitating that the new hospital can be located closer, in an area that will be accessible to all,” he said.
Dr Kwape has advocated for the new hospital to cater for Cardiology, Neurology, and Nephrology specialists.
He said further funds have been allocated for the construction of the new hospital, adding that the only delays which might be experienced prior to kick-starting the project may be logistical issues such as acquiring the proposed land, drafting plans and awarding of the tender.

Dr Kwape urged SDC urgently identified land for the stadium and commence its construction before the end of the financial year.
“They have been notable concerns of the delays in identifying the land where the stadium should be built,” he said.
He cited that locations such as the piece of land near Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board and also a place near Lodubeng were ideal for locating the stadium.
Dr Kwape further expressed dissatisfaction with Estate Construction (PTY) LTD, which was currently constructing sanitation project.
He said they have been numerous complaints raised by the public relating to how the company was conducting the project.
