Africa-Press – Botswana. A government initiative to engage development managers will ensure that projects are up to standard and completed within time and budget.

Addressing a two-day senior government officers’ performance management forum retreat in Rasesa yesterday, the Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP), Ms Emmah Peloetletse said implementation of development projects needed attention.

Ms Peloetletse said the recently issued expression of interest for development managers by the Ministry of Transport and Public Works should form a larger part of the retreat’s discussions.

The deliberations, she said, should also prepare ministries to start off the 202324 financial year on a healthy note.

“Another issue that we are going to talk about is around legislative programme, which will support the national transformation agenda,” she said.

Ms Peloetletse said her visit to government offices nationwide helped her gather varied concerns and issues that posed as challenges to attaining satisfactory service delivery.

Therefore, she said the leadership forum should help come up with solutions to issues raised by government officers across the country.

The PSP said theirs was to address certain bottlenecks that hindered implementation of government projects.

Furthermore, Ms Peloetletse said the forum would give an update on scheduled national events amongst them, the Forbes Under 30 Summit and the US/Africa Business Summit, which the nation ought to be sensitised on as the meetings presented business opportunities and networking.

She said the forum would also deliberate on the Transitional National Development Plan

The retreat themed: Mind-set Change to Drive Implementation Excellence, is aimed at improving implementation of public sector programmes and projects, as well as reaffirm that government machinery remains committed to the achievement of efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
