Africa-Press – Botswana. Promotion is determined by availability of positions, which in turn was determined by organisational needs.
Answering a question at the ongoing Ntlo ya Dikgosi session, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Talitha Monnakgatla said progression and promotion for Tribal Administration clerical staff was slow even though they further their studies on the job.
Ms Monnakgotla said in majority of cases, available positions were by far exceeded by the number of officers eligible for promotion and as such it was not always possible to promote all deserving officers.
She said the ministry was aware of the slow progression of the Tribal Administration Clerical staff despite their continued efforts to upgrade themselves.
“The ministry has commenced review of the Tribunal Administration functional structure with a view to identify gaps and rectify them,” said Monnakgotla.
Ms Monnakgotla was responding to a question from Kgosi David Toto â…¡ of Kgalagadi South Region, who wanted to know if the minister was aware that progression and promotion for Tribunal Administration Clerical staff was slow.
