Africa-Press – Botswana. Minister for State President Mr Kabo Morwaeng yesterday conveyed message of condolences to the Turkish government following the devastating earthquakes last week.
Minister Morwaeng said about 10 cities in Turkey had been badly affected by the unfortunate incident resulting in massive death toll registered.
To date , he said Turkey had registered about 30 000 deaths and over 80 000 injuries as a result of the disaster, something he described as disheartening.
He said it was against this background that he paid the Turkish embassy a visit to offer message of condolences, citing that Botswana had bilateral relations with Turkey, hence Batswana were saddened by the predicament.
Mr Morwaeng said Turkish were hard working people and he believed that they would rebuild their lives within a short period.
The minister said they were awaiting a report from the embassy on whether there were Batswana that had been affected.
