POOR PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION WORRIES SHAMUKUNI

Africa-Press – Botswana. The Minister of Justice, Mr Machana Shamukuni, is worried by the below par implementation of projects within his ministry.

Addressing senior managers during the ministry’s annual performance retreat in Gaborone on Friday, the minister said project implementation was crucial for the ministry to deliver justice.

“Central to our purpose as the ministry responsible for justice is delivery of services, which enable implementation of various projects and programmes to enhance access timely justice,” he said.

This responsibility, he said, called for the ministry to initiate new ways of collaborating with the departments under its core mandate.

“It should surely be our urgent resolve to ultimately deliver positive results. This can only be measured through our customer service,” he said.

Therefore, he said the annual performance retreat gave the ministry an opportunity to review and assess its performance.

He noted that it was critical for the ministry to recommit to the new efforts and relevant interventions for the year 2023/2024.

Mr Shamukuni added that the ministry retreat was an important forum for delivery of strategic objectives and enhancing organizational performance and service delivery for the coming financial year.

For his part, the deputy permanent secretary-corporate services, Ms Goitseone Madikwe said the community pinned their hope on the ministry to get justice and underlined the need to deliver a timely justice system to the country.

Furthermore, she encouraged officers to do all that was possible to ensure projects were implemented within time and on budget.

The annual performance retreat was the ministry’s first since its formation.
