Africa-Press – Botswana. The second Mohembo Bridge Charity Walk, which is organised by Phomolong Orphan and Vulnerable Children Counselling Centre, is slated for May 6.
The charity walk will include a 25km walk, 15 km walk, 10 km walk and fast walk.
Phomolong’s executive committee chairperson, Setlhare Marovu said the walks would commence in the morning and evening at intervals with all participants starting from Mohembo West and crossing the Okavango River Bridge before returning to the starting point.
Marovu said their partnership with Water Utilities Corporation as the main sponsor, which started last year continued.
He noted that last year’s attendance was not satisfactory and that they aimed to promote the event more this year as demonstrated by an activation event they held in Shakawe last month. The charity walk, he said, was aimed at raising funds for infrastructure at the centre comprising offices, counselling rooms, classrooms, a library, a playground and a vehicle to easily access area of operation.
He added that they were waiting to be allocated a plot.
The centre was established in 2018, registered in 2019 and is based in Shakawe.
