CHURCH CELEBRATES PLATINUM JUBILEE AUGUST 26

Africa-Press – Botswana. Something extraordinary is already taking place as evidenced by the renovations of some of the church buildings at Spiritual Healing Church in Matsiloje with the white and dark blue colours brightening up the North Eastern village of Matsiloje.

Located about 44 kilometres east of Francistown, the village is the headquarters of the Spiritual Healing Church and is where the church was founded in 1953.

On August 26 all roads will be leading to Matsiloje to celebrate the church’s 70th anniversary where church members within and across the borders are expected to descend into the otherwise quite village to celebrate this great achievement.

“Over 4000 people are expected to attend the celebration and the number might increase,” said the leader of the Church and Bishop Joseph Motswasele in an interview with BOPA recently.

He explained that preparations for the anniversary were smooth as evidenced by the renovation of the church buildings in order to accommodate more people.

He explained that the congregation was working around the clock to make sure that “everything is in to order on the day.”

Bishop Motswasele further indicated that the church has invited the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Ms Anna Mokgethi as the guest speaker.

“We have also extended our invitation to his Honour the Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane in his capacity as a member of the church,” said Bishop Motswasele.

The Bishop further indicated that the church has invited all its 106 branches across the country, including three branches from neighbouring Namibia.

In addition, Bishop Motswasele said that they have also invited other church denominations to join them in the celebrations.

Spiritual Healing Church has over 15 000 members including those from neighbouring South Africa and Namibia.

Bishop Motswasele stated that the mood in the village was already high amongst church members and the village leadership.

Furthermore, Bishop Motswasele said that the activities of the day will start with a church service before the speeches.

The church was founded by his father, the late Bishop Joseph Mokaleng in 1923 as Apostolic United Faith Coloured Church before it changed its name to Apostolic United Faith Healing Church in 1962.

In 1973, it changed its name yet again to Apostolic Spiritual Healing church before it settled for the current name, Spiritual Healing Church under his leadership.

The founder, the late Bishop Mokaleng was initially a Methodist church member before God commissioned him to start a church.
