Africa-Press – Botswana. Five students will benefit from the Boitekanelo College sponsorship of P400 000.

Briefing the media in Gaborone on Wednesday, Boitekanelo College Marketing Manager, Ms Leene Nage, said the sponsorship was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative which centres more on changing people’s lives.

Ms Nage said through their collaboration with The Broadcasters Organization which works with less privileged students across the country and the Botswana Insurance Company, they have awarded 10 scholarships so far.

Having been in existence for the past 16 years, Ms Nage said, they have started making concerted efforts to raise funds through marathons as part of their CSR initiative and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

“Through proceeds of the half marathon that we did last year, we have been able to build a home for a family in Tlokweng where the college is situated,” she said.

William Simon,a sales executive at Botswana Insurance Company, applauded the college for the gesture.

He said Boitekanelo College started small and was intrigued by the story of the doctor who started this dream that had transformed many hospitals through their students.

For his part, TBO Advisory board member, Mr Benjamin Radimo, said his organization was a youth-led NGO that had so far built a working relationship with more than 300 primary schools countrywide.

“We also help look for sponsorship for the less privileged students in the rural areas thus the partnership with the college,“ he said

One of the beneficiaries, Ms Nandipha Muzila, thanked Boitekanelo College and other sponsors for the opportunity that she said would change her life for the better.
