Africa-Press – Botswana. Understanding of the relevant laws and regulations of a country is key to strengthening business compliance and resilience, says Ambassador of China to Botswana, Mr Wang Xuefeng.

Speaking during a workshop of Safety, BURS Tax System, Labour and Immigration Law in Gaborone on Tuesday, Mr Xuefeng said by addressing critical aspects of safety, tax compliance, and legal obligations, the Chinese community would be better equipped to navigate the ever changing business landscape, thus fostering a resilient and compliant business community in Botswana.

“In the past three years, the slowdown in economic growth caused by the epidemic has had a profound impact on enterprises and employment, and the security situation and business environment faced by overseas Chinese has changed, so the importance and necessity of this workshop has become more prominent,” he said.

He said with the background of rapid resumption of China-Botswana people-to-people exchanges, the workshop came at the right time.

“I also believe that this workshop will make new contributions to personnel exchanges between China and Botswana,” he said.

Mr Xuefeng said the embassy would make great efforts to implement the regulations, firmly establish awareness and enhance the ability of performing duties in accordance with the law.

For his part, chairman of overseas Chinese service centre in Botswana, Mr Li Dong said the workshop was a necessary initiative, which would ensure that the Chinese business community residing in Botswana would join hands in developing the country. “Our hope is that by the end of this workshop, participants would have engaged with industry experts and in turn would become a more informed and compliant business community,” he said.
