Africa-Press – Botswana. Athletics has received the largest share of the Olympic Solidarity scholarship for the preparations of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) released the list on Monday.

The scholarship offers selected athletes a fixed monthly grant for their training and qualification costs that assist with access to appropriate training facilities, affords them a coach specialising in the relevant sporting discipline.
The scholarship covers regular medical and scientific assistance and monitoring. Accident and illness insurance are not covered by the scholarship.
“The scholarship covers board and lodging costs and pocket money and the amount is to be established by the BNOC. Travel costs for the athlete to participate in competition including Olympic qualification events,” a statement from BNOC reads.
The BNOC said the scholarship can be withdrawn if an athlete fails to qualify for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, decline in level making it unlikely that the athlete would qualify for the Olympics, and unethical behaviour such as doping and indiscipline.
