Africa-Press – Botswana. The fourth session of the Foreign Office Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Botswana and those of India took place in Gaborone on December 14.

A press statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the meeting afforded the two Ministries an opportunity to deliberate on issues of common interest as well as appreciate progress made in the various areas that Botswana and India cooperate in such as the trade and investment, health, tourism and education sectors.

“Botswana and India established diplomatic ties in 1966; India opened its diplomatic Mission in Botswana in 1987 and in 2006 Botswana opened its Mission in India,” the statement said.

The consultations were co-chaired by the acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Clifford Maribe and India’s Ambassador to Botswana Puneet Kundal, additional Secretary for East and Southern Africa and the Ministry of External Affairs.
