Africa-Press – Botswana. Female Police Officers in Takatokwane have extended a helping hand to the vulnerable members of the community.

During their gift exchange session on Christmas day, the officers donated food hampers to nine residents of Maboane, who are not beneficiaries of any government social safety net programmes.

Speaking at the event, Takatokwane Station Commander, Superintendent Lesego Godirwang commended the initiative of infusing gift exchanges between colleagues with helping someone in need, saying it was part of fulfilling social responsibility obligations.

Having witnessed challenges facing members of the community, Superintendent Godirwang said it was befitting to help them, to ensure that they did not go to bed hungry during this Christmas season. She said with the support from officer commanding and other colleagues within district 11, they felt encouraged and motivated.

Headman of arbitration, Mr Onyaditse Ramota said the donation was a true reflection of motherhood and was testimony that a woman was a mother of the nation.

Officer commanding for district 11, Senior Superintendent Modise Gabatswane hailed female police officers for their efforts, adding that the gesture demonstrated mindset change efforts.

On behalf of beneficiaries, Ms Kelenetswe Mokoma was grateful of the generous gesture from women police officers.
