Africa-Press – Botswana. Officers in central and local government as well as those in parastatal organisations have been urged to take keen interest in projects that have been planned to be undertaken by government in districts.
Addressing Boteti District heads of departments in Letlhakane on Wednesday, Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe said employees should understand that Boteti was now a full district, hence the need for concerted efforts by departments in ensuring successful implementation of programmes and projects.
Though some positions are held by officers on acting basis, Mr Lelatisitswe said it did not hinder such people from taking progressive decisions, adding that decentralisation was meant to improve turnaround times, which would see improved services.
Mr Lelatisitswe, who is also the Assistant Minister of Health, said projects or programmes mentioned by the President at forums such as State of the Nation Address should be taken seriously by every employee and should be followed until successful implementation.
He cited Temo Letlotlo as one of the programmes that needed hype and efforts by all relevant stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
