Africa-Press – Botswana. The upcoming Botswana Security and Fire Summit 2024, scheduled to take place at Ba Isago University, in Gaborone, from February 28 to March 1 is expected to address critical issues surrounding security, risk management, work safety, emergency response and fire safety.
This was said by Botswana Security and Fire Summit and Expo 2024 chairperson, Mr Innocent Chingwaru, when responding to a questionnaire on the objectives of the summit themed: A Collaborative Approach for a Safe and Secure Nation.
Mr Chingwaru, who is also Canterquip managing director and Corp Security International (Botswana chapter) chairperson, said the three-day summit, was also meant to create a discussion platform for regulatory changes and updates in the fire and security industry.He pointed out that the summit underscored the significance of partnership and cooperation among various stakeholders and also calls to action, inviting organisations from all walks of life to join hands in addressing the complex and dynamic challenges that affect the security infrastructure.
“We have curated a series of insightful panel discussions featuring our esteemed speakers. These panels will delve into critical topics, such as emerging security threats, the role of technology in enhancing public safety, and the importance of community engagement in building a secure nation,” he said.
“Our panels will be interactive, encouraging open dialogue and the exchange of ideas among participants and experts.”
He said the summit was also expected to propose a collaborative approach to enhancing national security involving multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, law enforcement, private sector entities, and the community, as well as provide a platform to showcase the latest advancements in security and fire safety technologies, products and services.
The summit is expected to attract more than 350 attendees, 20 Speakers and more than 40 exhibitors.Speakers will include Security Association of South Africa national administrator, Mr Tony Botes; Securico Security Services managing director, Dr Divine Ndhlukula, from Zimbabwe; and HIKVISION business development manager, Mr Morguen Yuan, from China.
Additionally, Mr Chingwaru said there would be speakers from Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, Botswana Development Corporation, Botswana Police, Private Security Licensing Board, National Bank and Finance Institutes Regulatory Authority, Human Resource Development Council, Botswana Defence Force, G4S, Ba Isago University, Fire Logistics Systems and Security Association of Botswana.
