Africa-Press – Botswana. Tati Land Board chairperson Mr Fidelis Machola has challenged board members to find solutions to challenges brought forward by the public.

“It will be amiss for someone to believe that the executive members of the committee will always come up with possible answers,” he said when addressing the board members in Masunga on Tuesday.

Mr Machola said board members must be reasonable and demonstrate their gentle attitude towards all customers.

“By so doing it will be the beginning of team spirit as without team work nothing will be achieved,” he said.

He said it was pleasing to note that through hard work, his board had managed to achieve their set target of 6 511 plots allocation.

At national level, government had tasked all land boards to have allocated 100 000 plot in the past financial year.

Mr Machola said in the current financial year, his team will primarily focus on allocating land. He said the board was targeting to allocate 2 881 residential plots during the current financial year.

Mr Machola said the identified land had been surveyed and the report submitted for examination.

“In addition to that, we still have 4 632 plot to be surveyed and 11 base maps to be done at Moroka, Gambule, Gungwe, Masingwaneng, Jackalas 2, Toteng, Matsiloje, Letsholathebe and Shashe Bridge including ploughing fields at Masingwaneng and Matopi,” he said.

Tati Land Board Secretary, Ms Neo Mothobi said allocating land on time would reduce the ever increasing waiting list.

She appealed to board members to engage the community through public education on the importance of proper land use.

She said it was important to encourage land board employees to perform their duties well and effectively without favour or corruption.

Ms Mothobi said their welfare and equipping them with requisite knowledge was necessary towards effective and productive service delivery.

One of the board members, Ms Mathodi Modisapudi emphasised the need for members to be empowered with negotiation skills.
