Africa-Press – Botswana. President Duma Boko has urged ministers to work tirelessly in moving the nation’s aspirations forward and raise Botswana’s profile.

In his address following the administration of oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed six cabinet ministers and two assistant ministers in Gaborone on November 12, Mr Boko reminded them that they would be called upon to formulate and engage in the rollout of policies and interventions designed to raise the country’s profile, which they would perform in some of the difficult situations and time constraints.

“We welcome you all into the service of this Republic and be mindful that you carry on your shoulders a heavy responsibility of meeting and satisfying the expectations of people who are yearning for change and recognition for their country as well as a leadership that serves them with the deepest commitment,” he said.

He challenged them to keep the confidence of both the country and the people they served and hold them in the highest esteem.

“It is of importance to serve the citizenry in with the highest honour and not abuse them nor violate their rights and freedom or even undermine their integrity and their dignity,” he said.

The President encouraged the ministers to remain faithful to the values and precepts enshrined in the Constitution of the country.

He also urged them to conduct themselves in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the country with the highest ethical and moral standards.

“I thus commend all of you on your appointments and hand you to the citizens of this country to work with you and guide you and please you dare not fail, disappoint or disintegrate the values enshrined in the constitution,” President Boko said.
