Africa-Press – Botswana. Vice President and Minister of Finance, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe and Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mr Gilles Roth have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the financial services sector.
The signing ceremony marked a significant milestone in strengthening partnership between Botswana and Luxembourg, following a productive bilateral visit by Vice President to Luxembourg in March.
According to a media release from the Office of the President, the MoU establishes a framework for collaboration that includes mutual exchange of information on financial sector trends, legislation, and regulation, joint seminars and training sessions for executives in financial institutions, central banks, and government ministries and virtual training programmes on agreed topics.
Additionally, it provides office support for financial delegations between the two jurisdictions, explores joint initiatives to enhance investment activities, and facilitates collaboration on analytical studies, policy briefs and technical papers.
The release states that the agreement reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation and capacity building in the financial sector, leveraging Luxembourg’s expertise alongside Botswana’s dynamic market.
“It also aims to create new opportunities for growth and development while contributing to the economic resilience of both nations,” says the release.
The MoU underscores proactive efforts of Botswana and Luxembourg to promote knowledge sharing, regulatory alignment, and investment flows, paving the way for a robust and beneficial partnership.
