Africa-Press – Botswana. Minister of Local Govenrment and Traditional Affairs, Mr Ketlhalefile Motshegwa has called for unity within the Motlhasedi family and Tobane community following the death of village traditional leader, Kgosi Tlhako Motlhasedi.

Conveying message of condolence to the family on August 15, Mr Motshegwa said while religious leaders provided words of comfort and guidance during times of grief, the family and community should also find supportive ways that would make a difference.

“Losing a loved one is one of the most painful experiences one can endure. During such difficult times, it is vital to come together and support each other. Offering comfort should not solely rest on our pastors and religious leaders, each of us has a role to play in providing support, comfort and love for those who are hurting,” he stated.

Kgosi Motlhasedi (62), who died on August 11, became a Headman of Records in 2023, a title he held until his death.

The family spokesperson, Mr Dinti Motlhasedi, announced that Kgosi Motlhasedi would be buried on August 23.

“The passing of Kgosi Motlhasedi represents not only the loss of a leader but also the loss of a father figure for all of us. He embodied the values of unity and kindness, imparting lessons through both his words and actions. We are committed to honouring and continuing his teachings as we navigate this difficult time,” he said.
