The banknote is legal tender and will circulate alongside the existing P50 note featuring the portrait of Botswana’s first president, Sir Seretse Khama.

The commemorative note forms part of the bank’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, marking five decades of financial and economic stewardship in Botswana. Officials stated that the new banknote reflects the institution’s history, achievements, and its role in supporting economic stability and growth.
