Africa-Press – Botswana. Acting President Ndaba Gaolathe (second left) meeting delegates of Gaborone Democracy Lab 2025 Conference yesterday. He said as Botswana navigated the new chapter under a new government, it must recognise that democracy did not exist in isolation, but was shaped by global economic shifts, the climate crisis and regional instability.

Mr Gaolathe called for the renewal of democracy in Botswana and across Africa, urging democratic institutions to deliver not just rights but results that improved citizens’ lives. He said democracy must go beyond elections to provide food security, fairness, opportunity and dignity.
