Africa-Press – Botswana. The Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr Keoagile Atamelang has informed Parliament that he is not aware of the constitution or re-constitution of ULSAN Holdings Botswana, a matter he said should be directed to the relevant ministry for clarification.
Regarding matters relating to liquidation process, Mr Atamelang said all activities relating to the liquidation process were under the control of the Master of the High Court. Mr Atamelang was responding to a parliamentary question recently on behalf of the minister of Minerals and Energy, indicating that the ministry was only involved in the process as a creditor.
“As a creditor, we are advised that the bid closure deadline had been extended from June 13 to June 15, and that all bidders were invited to submit their bids within the revised timelines,” Mr Atamelang said.
Tati East MP, Mr Tlhabologo Furniture wanted the minister to brief the House on how ULSAN Holdings Botswana, was allowed into the Mupane Gold Mine bidding process after the official deadline.
He also wanted to know whether the ministry had a hand in facilitating the process, and whether the minister was aware of reports that state that ULSAN Holdings was only registered on May 16, and that within days it was reshuffled multiple times ending up in the hands of three Turkish nationals.
Mr Furniture further wanted the minister to state government’s role in allowing the liquidation process to continue past the June 13 deadline.
