Africa-Press – Botswana. On 14 November 2025, the Police in No.16 District, Mahalapye, launched Operation Pabalesego II at the Mahalapye Bus Rank. The operation is a joint initiative between the Botswana Police Service and the Botswana Defence Force, aimed at enhancing national safety and security with a focus on road safety and crime prevention.
The launch was followed by a community-focused campaign over the weekend, supported by MVA Fund Botswana and Yarona FM. The campaign targeted public awareness and education on key safety issues affecting the community.
During the campaign, police officers and defence personnel engaged directly with residents. Informational booklets were distributed, and interactive discussions were held on road safety practices. The campaign emphasized responsible driving, pedestrian safety, and adherence to traffic laws.
Messages on Gender-Based Violence prevention were also delivered, urging community members to uphold a culture of zero tolerance. Patrols around the bus rank were intensified to protect commuters and ensure a visible security presence.
The campaign received strong support from the community, reflecting a shared commitment to safer roads and a secure environment for women and children.
Operation Pabalesego II across police districts aims to maintain long-term impact through enforcement, education, and active community engagement, reinforcing Botswana’s commitment to public safety and crime reduction.
