Botswana Launches E-Learning Programs for Public Service

Africa-Press – Botswana. The Minister for State President, Hon. Moeti Mohwasa, officially launched the Botswana Public Service College (BPSC) E-Learning programmes. The initiative forms part of a broader, legally grounded framework designed to strengthen human capital, enhance institutional capacity, and secure the long-term prosperity of Botswana.

During the launch, Minister Mohwasa stressed the importance of adopting innovative learning methods that are flexible, inclusive, and cost-effective. He said the e-learning platform allows public officers, regardless of location, to access continuous professional development. The platform bridges skills gaps and equips officers to deliver efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused services.

Acting Executive Director Ms. Boineelo Lobelo explained that the e-Learning Project was developed to democratise access to professional development opportunities. She noted that the platform empowers officers at all levels while ensuring learning remains flexible, inclusive, and sustainable.

Ms. Lobelo added that the initiative is the result of strategic collaboration between the Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM), the Botswana Public Service College, and the World Bank. She highlighted that the e-BPSC platform has already enrolled 4,669 officers, reflecting strong engagement and a commitment to building a smarter, more capable public service.

The e-learning programmes aim to transform professional development in Botswana’s public sector, enabling a well-trained workforce capable of meeting evolving governance and service delivery demands.
