Africa-Press – Botswana. Vice President and Minister of Finance, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe officiallyed open the Kgatleng Agricultural and Trade Fair in Mochudi.

Held at Mochudi show grounds under the theme: Unlocking new opportunities for economic growth through agricultural and trade show, the four day event which started yesterday will showcase agricultural products, various businesses in the agricultural value chain and the technological advancement aimed at diversifying and growing the sector.

The event will equally display efforts made by the Kgatleng Agricultural Trade Fair Committee to revive Kgatleng District’s agricultural and cultural sectors, as well as its economic and social cohesiveness.

The platform will give scores of farmers and business people to exhibit their products with the view of sharing ideas to enhance knowledge, establish meaningful partnerships and establish new markets.

The chairperson of Kgatleng Agricultural and Trade Fair Committee, Mr Patrick Mmono said varied and diverse players in agriculture as well as support businesses would exhibit at the event. At the time of conducting the interview on Wednesday, Mr Mmono said 76 small stock and 20 cattle farmers were registered for exhibition.

“We are still expecting more to register,” he said. The show will equally display crop products.

Mr Mmono said other than the farming community who would be showcasing their animals and other farm products, various businesses in the agriculture value chain and parastatal companies were registered to set stalls at the show.

Therefore, Mr Mmono appealed to members of the community, business people who were willing to benchmark and individuals with interest to venture into any agriculture related business that the event was a must attend.

He said entrance fee will be P20 and P10 for adults and children respectively. Mr Mmono said other than the official programme and exhibits as well as business interactions, the event would equally offer a variety of entertainment which would include quad-bikes and horse riding among others.
