Africa-Press – Botswana. Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs has submitted a request to the Ministry of Lands and Agriculture in March for reservation of 1 500 plots in Nyungwe layout in Kasane Township.

Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, Minister Ketlhalefile Motshegwa said therefore new allocations in the township would commence upon completion of servicing and approval of the 1 500 plots requested, subject to availability of funds. He said the delay in allocation of plots in the township was due to unavailability of the Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA) plots. Mr Motshegwa also said the allocation of SHHA in the Kasane Township was last done in 2014 with a total of 163 plots allocated since 2010. Mr Motshegwa was answering a question from Chobe MP, Mr Simasiku Mapulanga, who had asked the minister when last SHHA plots were allocated and how soon they would be allocated. He further asked the minister to state the causes of delays in allocation and the solutions to be put in place for expediency.
