Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>A 20-year-old has been paralyzed after trying to lift 300 kilograms in the air during a training session. Brandon Hackett later discovered that the pain that led to his paralysis was a tumor.<\/b><\/p>\n

The diagnosis of Ewig’s sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that mainly affects the bones, was made in 2021.<\/p>\n

It all started with a backache in July last year, when I was training to lift weights for a competition.<\/p>\n

After a first visit to the doctor, physiotherapy was recommended, but the pain continued, having radiated to the stomach. Later, as he was walking home, he began to feel a tingling sensation in his legs that took him back to the doctor. New diagnosis: sciatica.<\/p>\n

“I thought it was sciatica because I was lifting 300 kilos in the gym,” the Brit told the Mirror newspaper.<\/p>\n

Brandon from Barnsley continued his life and in August 2021 he went to the Leeds festival. His legs began to weaken and he began to have difficulty walking. Once at home, he collapsed, no longer able to walk.<\/p>\n

After a few more trips to the hospital and several tests, Brandon underwent surgery to decompress his spine, eventually ending up with the final diagnosis: Ewing’s sarcoma.<\/p>\n

The young man started the treatments in October last year and is now recovered, but it took six months to regain full movement in his legs.<\/p>\n
