Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Letsile Tebogo has been nominated for another award after he made the World Athletic’s list for the Male Rising Star of the Year gong.<\/b><\/p>\n

The local superstar is up against Erriyon Knighton (USA), Emmanuel Wanyonyi (Kenya), Jaydon Hibbert (Jamaica), and Anthony Ammirati of France. Tebogo made the list on the back of an impressive year in which he smashed the world Under-20 100m record.<\/p>\n

In April, he ran 9.96 secs which was a record time then but the mark was nullified by World Athletics after it was deemed the zero gun test was not performed before the race. Letsile was not deterred as he smashed the junior record during the World Championships in Oregon in July, running 9.94, before improving the time to 9.91 at the World Junior Championships in Columbia less than a month later.<\/p>\n

His Colombia mark is still awaiting ratification from World Athletics during a local event which was then dismissed by World Athletics. He later set another 100m junior world record of 9.94 secs in the heats in Oregon. His 9.91 secs is waiting to be ratified by World Athletics.<\/p>\n

The winner of the 2022 Men’s Rising Star award will be selected by an international panel of experts and will be announced on World Athletics social media platforms in early December.<\/p>\n
