Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The alleged vengeful lover who took social media by storm last week after ripping her lover\u2019s bed and clothes into pieces leaving them to float in a pool of water is in \u2018hot soup\u2019.<\/p>\n

The actions of the 26-year-old woman of Molepolole have been described as those of a \u2018bully lover\u2019 by Batswana across social media platforms who had mixed feelings and reactions to the incident. Some rooted for her while the majority condemned her actions and viewed them as Gender-Based Violence (GBV).<\/p>\n

The police confirmed investigations into the malicious damage case, saying the young woman\u2019s case will soon be registered with the Village Magistrate\u2019s Court. Gaborone West Police station commander, superintendent Knight Molosiwa said the woman slashed her lover\u2019s bed, ripped his clothes into pieces, which are belongings worth P3,150. \u201cIt looks like the duo was in a love relationship and had some sort of misunderstanding prior to this incident. The incident occurred on January 13 at Block 6, in Gaborone,\u201d he said. Molosiwa said cases of this nature which are mostly perpetrated by women are worrisome. He stated that it appears as if since women are not capable of physically abusing their partners when having misunderstandings, they usually opt to vent their anger on their partners\u2019 properties.<\/p>\n

He pleaded with women to consider seeking advice when troubled and avoid resolving issues through violence. \u201cDestroying someone\u2019s property despite the relationship with that person is against the law. I plead with women to seek help when troubled before the situation gets out of control. We are always ready to intervene and help in any situation; our doors are always open,\u201d Molosiwa said. The victim \u2018Shakes Stylist\u2019 on his Facebook handle bravely condemned his lover\u2019s actions, but declined to be on record when reached for an interview by The Monitor. \u201cI do not want to share anything with the media. despite having lost my properties. I was in a love relationship with her (Barulaganye Lala Moeng) and she was not happy with certain things in our relationship that resulted in her venting her anger on my belongings.<\/p>\n

Despite being hurt by her actions, I would not want to see her name and image being dragged on newspapers,\u201d he said. Moreover, he further disclosed that he reached an agreement with his ex-lover to at least give him P6,000 to buy a new bed and not to pay for the other belongings because she is currently unemployed. Additionally, he said he does not want to appear as if he is fighting her ex-lover or in need of some sort of revenge. \u201cI shared my plight with Daniel Kenosi out of frustration, because I was frustrated after reporting the matter to the police and it appeared they were reluctant to treat the issue as a matter of agency. I have a relationship with her family, her cousins are my friends.<\/p>\n

The police are handling the matter. She agreed to pay me and that\u2019s enough. Yes, we have ended things; we are no longer dating. But I do not want to appear as if I am fighting her by sharing what transpired with the newspapers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
