\nGaborone Golf Club hit a massive hole-in-one last week, unveiling a P4.5 million investment from Stanbic Bank Botswan<\/b>a.<\/p>\n

The three-year deal will see the club renamed the Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf Club.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the milestone, Stanbic hosted a tournament on Friday, raising P100, 000 to go towards the Caddy Welfare Fund, which seeks to improve the welfare of caddies and ensure inclusivity at all levels.<\/p>\n

Stanbic Chief Executive Officer, Chose Modise explained this was part of the bank\u2019s Corporate Social Investment (CSI).<\/p>\n

He stressed it not only symbolises their efforts to nurture the sport of golf locally, but also to preserving and celebrating treasured community sites in the heart of Gaborone.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a re-affirmation of our commitment to support the growth of golfing talent in Botswana so we continue to make our mark on the global sporting stage.<\/p>\n

It is a mark of the importance of coming together to preserve and cherish landmark sites such as a the Golf Club, so rich in heritage and history; and it is a means through which we engage with the valued clients, partners and stakeholders who have stood by us in the 30 years since we first opened our doors in Botswana,\u201d said Modise, who described the partnership as a dream come true for Stanbic.<\/p>\n

Guest speaker at the event, Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) Chairperson, Marumo Morule noted the bank has a proud history of supporting sports in the country. This includes sponsoring football giant\u2019s Township Rollers, the Diacore Gaborone Marathon, the CANA Regional Swimming Championships and the Nomads Nationals Golf competition.<\/p>\n

Morule further revealed the multi-million Pula agreement will transform the club\u2019s fortunes.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore this sponsorship, the Club was facing many challenges. Due to the pandemic, they had to cut down manpower, put maintenance of key areas on hold, and even scale back or suspend activities due lack of finance and resources. It pleases me greatly to see the funds invested by Stanbic Bank. We welcome the return of the Club and community activities and the upgrade of infrastructure and equipment as a unique and innovative example of commercial and community harmonised through corporate support, benefitting sports, tourism, youth, enterprise, and community,\u201d declared Morule.<\/p>\n
