Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>There were major shifts at the top and bottom of Botswana Premier League (BPL) log standings as the first round hit a halfway mark. Gaborone United and Jwaneng Galaxy still hold the fort at the top, while BDF XI and Police XI are now in the bottom three. Here is how the BPL is shaping up after seven games.<\/b>
\nGU and Galaxy yet to lose<\/b><\/p>\n

Defending champions Gaborone United and Jwaneng Galaxy continued their fine start to the season this past weekend. Both teams are yet to lose a game, both having won six (6) games and drawn one (1) each.<\/p>\n

With 19 goals scored and only 1 conceded so far this season, GU sits at the top of the league log. Their run continued this past weekend as they thrashed NICO United 4 \u2013 0 at the Royal Aria Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Their superior goal difference sees them edge Galaxy for the top spot.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Galaxy beat BDF XI 2 \u2013 0 at the Galaxy Stadium on Saturday to keep close tabs on GU. The Jwaneng based outfit sit on second spot on the log. Having scored 13 goals and conceded 5, Galaxy have a +8 goal difference, 10 goals behind GU.<\/p>\n

Rollers roll down the log<\/b><\/p>\n

Township Rollers lost a grip of the tailcoats of GU and Jwaneng Galaxy as they were whipped 0 \u2013 3 by Masitaoka on Saturday afternoon at the Molepolole Sports Complex. Masitaoka have of late been Rollers\u2019 hoodoo side and things have not changed. The loss was first of the season for the Gaborone West based outfit.<\/p>\n

Rollers\u2019 loss saw them move two positions down in the league. they are now in position 5 on the BPL log standings with 14 points. Of the seven games they have played so far this season, Rollers have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 1.<\/p>\n

Orapa United and Security Systems move up<\/b><\/p>\n

Orapa United and Security Systems are now up to third and fourth respectively on the BPL log standings. Both teams are on 15 points each, having won 5 and lost 3 each.<\/p>\n

The Ostriches, as Orapa is affectionately known, climbed to third position after thrashing Prisons XI 4 \u2013 0 at Molepolole Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon. Orapa\u2019s win came on the back of Omaatla Kebatho\u2019s hattrick. The burly striker is now the league\u2019s leading goalscorer having netted 8 goals so far this season. Elsewhere, Systems moved to fourth (4th) on the standings after edging off Eleven Angels 2 \u2013 1 at Lobatse Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Masitaoka, Angels and Wanderers in top 8<\/b><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Masitaoka\u2019s win saw the Molepolole based outfit maintain its stay in the Top 8. Majatlhaga, as the team is known, are now sat 6th in the log standings, just one spot behind Rollers. They have amassed 12 points from their matches, having won 4 and lost 3.<\/p>\n

On position seven is the youthful Eleven Angels. Despite their loss to Systems, Lekgamu la Bananyana as the team is affectionately called, have managed to hold tight to their 7th position in the BPL league log.<\/p>\n

Completing the Top 8 is Morupule Wanderers. Fresh from parting ways with coach Daniel Chico Nare, the Palapye based outfit bounced back in style. They beat Police XI 2 \u2013 0 on Saturday afternoon. The win moved Bafana ba Magala from the relegation zone and are now on 8 points and eighth (8th) on the log.<\/p>\n

BDF XI, Police XI and Holy Ghost struggle<\/p>\n

In an interesting twist, BDF XI and Police XI have now moved to join strugglers and league debutants Holy Ghost at the bottom of the log standings. Both the national security forces outfits moved down the standings after registering 0 \u2013 2 losses over the weekend.<\/p>\n

BDF XI lost to early title contenders Jwaneng Galaxy while Police XI were beaten by Morupule Wanderers. Interestingly, both teams have each garnered 5 points in the season so far. Each has registered one (1) win, four (4) draws and two (2) losses. Holy Ghost meanwhile are yet to find divine intervention. Seven games into the season, Holy Ghost is yet to register its first win of the season. They have only mustered two draws and four losses and are now rooted at the bottom of the league log. Holy Ghost\u2019s last game saw them lose 0 \u2013 2 away to Sua Flamingoes on Sunday afternoon. For now, no miracle seems to be forthcoming for the Holy Boys.<\/p>\n
