Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Amidst the scarcity of school uniform caused by the government\u2019s importation ban, the school head of Ben Thema Primary School, Boitshoko Mokgethi has revealed that students without uniform are allowed to attend school.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really unfortunate that parents have to find themselves in these dire situations due to the ban imposed by the government.<\/p>\n

But since we are very much aware of the situation we find ourselves in, we have taken a decision to allow students whose parents have not gotten the chance to buy uniforms to continue with their learning.<\/p>\n

Our school emphasises more on delivering learning to students regardless of school uniforms,\u201d Mokgethi said. Even though the school is currently letting off students, Mokgethi said parents have been given enough time to buy uniform for their children.<\/p>\n

She, however, indicated that parents should note that students never want to fill out of place around their peers. Mokgethi also emphasised that as a result, parents should strive to buy school uniform in time.<\/p>\n

The country is embroiled in a challenge over the scarcity of school uniform because giant retailers like PEP and Ackerman\u2019s can no longer import. Mokgethi indicated that as Ben Thema Primary, they had to come up with a solution.<\/p>\n

The school is now selling its own school uniform with a tailor of their own. Mokgethi further revealed that the school has arranged with the tailor to design the Ben Thema Primary School uniform. \u201cWhen we got to learn of the imposed ban by the government, we decided to liaise with our tailor to design uniforms for Standard 1\u2019s.<\/p>\n

And now that we have our own tailor who designs for us, parents can come buy the uniform here on our school premises,\u201d she added. Giving her view on the imposed ban, Mokgethi said the move by the government will really benefit the designers in the long run as the tailors will be able to push their sales.<\/p>\n

One parent who spoke on condition of anonymity said what the school has done for them cannot go unnoticed. The parent added that Ben Thema has managed to simmer down the crisis.<\/p>\n
