Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Multitudes of people from all walks of life on Saturday bid farewell to the late veteran politician and Ghanzi District Council deputy chairperson, Mr Ezekiel Kajuu.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr Kajuu\u2019s life was cut short by stoke on January 12.<\/p>\n

The 52-year-old had served as Grootlaagte Ward councilor for approximately 27 years, a feat that earned him the name \u2018Tau ya Grootlaagte.\u2019<\/p>\n

Addressing mourners at Kgaphamadi Ward in Ghanzi where the funeral was held, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Talita Monnakgotla hailed Mr Kajuu as a legend and a voice of rural settlement dwellers.<\/p>\n

Ms Monnakgotla said Mr Kajuu, a long time BDP member was firm when deliberating on issues concerning Grootlaagte, an RADP settlement.<\/p>\n

She said Mr Kajuu worked passionately to improve the lives of those he represented since becoming a councilor in 1996, which endeared him to many.<\/p>\n

Ms Monnakgotla said death had robbed not only the Kajuu family and Grootlaagte residents of a great leader, but also local government ministry as he was a credible and rounded leader with extensive experience.<\/p>\n

Ghanzi District Council chairperson, Mr Jeremiah Tibi said Mr Kajuu performed council duties with passion and was assigned to manage RADP, Constituency Community Development Projects and Ipelegeng programme.<\/p>\n

He said Mr Kajuu devoted his life to three things: council, BDP and Grootlaagte.<\/p>\n

Mr Tibi described the deceased as an astute leader who had set the bar high for his colleagues across the political spectrum.<\/p>\n

He said from their school days up until they became employees, Mr Kajuu\u2019s contribution to the nation and Ghanzi always caught his attention.<\/p>\n

Member of Parliament for Ghanzi North, Mr John Thiite spoke in length about how Mr Kajuu had the interests of the community at heart.<\/p>\n

Mr Thiite said Mr Kajuu as a devoted member of BDP would do everything to ensure that the promises of the party were delivered to the electorates.<\/p>\n

He said Mr Kajuu was loved by the community because he was faithful to them.<\/p>\n

Leaning on Mr Kajuu he said, helped him to be victorious in the past general elections because he understood the dynamics of politics in Ghanzi District.<\/p>\n

Former member of Parliament for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae who spoke on behalf of siblings said Mr Kajuu was a popular and tactical politician who played the political game well.<\/p>\n

A friend, Mr Tshepho Gadilatolwe said Mr Kajuu deserved the name \u2018Tau ya Grootlaagte\u2019 because he was loved by many in the area.<\/p>\n

Mr Kajuu was buried in Makunda.<\/p>\n
