Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Botswana to host conference for intelligence and security organs of the African Union member countries.<\/b><\/p>\n

Botswana, through the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS), will host the 18th Ordinary Session of the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa (CISSA) conference in Gaborone from the 29th January to 4th February 2023.<\/p>\n

The conference which will be officially opened by President Mokgweetsi Masisi, will also mark Botswana\u2019s resumption of the CISSA chairmanship through the DIS and leadership of Director General Brigadier (Rtd.) Peter Magosi.<\/p>\n

The conference will bring together heads of intelligence and security services of Africa to deliberate on the food security outlook of the continent, particularly the intersection between conflicts and food security.<\/p>\n

It will be held under the theme,\u201d Food security, conflict and peace in Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heads of intelligence and security services together with security experts, prominent intellectuals and partners are expected to explore different measures necessary to address the alarming food security situation in the African continent.<\/p>\n

CISSA, which comprises 51 member states, was conceived as a mechanism for dialogue, study, analysis, consulting, concerting and adopting common strategies towards common security challenges among intelligence and security organs in the member countries of the African Union.<\/p>\n

The conference, as a result, is expected to provide recommendations on the practical implementation of solutions against Africa\u2019s myriad of security challenges, particularly food insecurity.<\/p>\n
