{"id":21288,"date":"2023-02-02T08:07:10","date_gmt":"2023-02-02T08:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/assessment-to-inform-decision-on-nata-court-establishment"},"modified":"2023-02-02T10:53:20","modified_gmt":"2023-02-02T10:53:20","slug":"assessment-to-inform-decision-on-nata-court-establishment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/assessment-to-inform-decision-on-nata-court-establishment","title":{"rendered":"ASSESSMENT TO INFORM DECISION ON NATA COURT ESTABLISHMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>Manpower and budgetary resources permitting, the Administration of Justice will continue to monitor and assess whether a permanent magistrate court needs to be established at Nata to handle stock theft cases.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Answering a question at the ongoing session of Ntlo ya Dikgosi on Tuesday, the Minister of Justice, Mr Machana Shamukuni said he was aware that stock theft cases for Nata\/Gweta area were tried in a mobile court stationed in Francistown.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Shamukuni said the Administration of Justice had five courts, which were specifically stationed in strategic areas to allow coverage by magistrates in their catchment areas.<\/p>\n<p>Ordinarily, Mr Shamukuni said the mobile courts travel to the catchment areas if there was need to perform on-site inspection in areas where crimes had been committed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the Nata\/Gweta area, the magistrate manning this specialised court is stationed at Francistown, where he also mans a court and presides over cases within the Francistown jurisdiction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Shamukuni was responding to a question from a representative of Tutume region at Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Rebagamang Rancholo.<\/p>\n<p>Kgosi Rancholo had asked the Minister of Justice if he was aware that stock theft cases in Nata\/Gweta area were tried in a mobile court based in Francistown.<\/p>\n<p>He also asked if the minister would consider placing the mobile court in Nata as it was at the centre of the region covered to address issues of efficiency and backlog of cases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\">Botswana<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana.
