Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Shorobe village in the Ngamiland District has a new senior chief\u2019s representative, following the death of Kgosi Molatedi Dingalo in January 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n

He is Kgosi Tlotlang Dingalo, who was recently appointed to the position after residents submitted his name to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for approval, with the blessing of Batawana Tribal Authority.<\/p>\n

The late Mr Dingalo, who was the new Kgosi\u2019s father, died after serving since 1972.<\/p>\n

Batawana, including traditional leaders and women dressed in traditional attire filled the village kgotla on Tuesday to welcome their new leader with song and dance, bkeaking into ululations the moment Kgosi Dingalo occupied his rightful position in the community.<\/p>\n

Batawana deputy paramount chief, Kgosi Bringle Dithapo appreciated that residents followed the correct procedure to appoint their kgosi and pleaded with them to respect and support him so that he executes his duties effectively.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Dingalo\u2019s uncles and traditional leaders took turns to motivate him, calling on him to treat his morafe with dignity and respect, irrespective of their social status.<\/p>\n

They encouraged him to conduct himself in a professional manner to earn and keep their respect.<\/p>\n

One of the uncles, Mr Macheng Dingalo urged him to follow in the footsteps of his late father, who was a loving and caring figure, and accommodated all.<\/p>\n

He advised the new kgosi to exercise patience as he would be dealing with people of different characters.<\/p>\n

Mr Molwe Monwela urged him to refrain from things that could undermine his reputation, such as bribery.<\/p>\n

The newly appointed kgosi was also urged to familiarise himself with all legislative documents such as the Penal Code, Bogosi Act and Customary Court Act among others, to execute his duties diligently.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Gokgathang Moalosi of Sankoyo urged him to work in harmony with other traditional leaders, and not hesitate to seek advice if the need arose.<\/p>\n

He also advised him to love his job and protect the reputation of bogosi, while Kgosi Kebatho Kesekile of Matlapana urged Kgosi Dingalo to remain neutral and understand his role as a traditional leader.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should not entertain politics in the kgotla as that can divide and destroy the communities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Babinang Majatsie from Maun also called on Kgosi Dingalo to be obedient and to collaborate and cooperate with his morafe.<\/p>\n

He said Kgosi Dingalo\u2019s late father played a key role in the royal activities and urged him to follow suit.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour father was the leader of Bashimane Bakgosi, which covers five wards in Maun and their role is to discuss issues related to bogosi.<\/p>\n

I believe you will take over from where he left,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

For his part, Kgosi Dingalo thanked the community for entrusting him with the big responsibility to lead them and assured them of a smooth working relationship.<\/p>\n
