Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Ms Winnie Kowa, a nurse stationed at Lejwana Clinic was awarded a Honda Fit car in recognition of her sterling performance in service delivery.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ms Kowa was selected from 19 competitors, having been nominated by the Village Development Committees (VDCs) from all the 19 villages in the Mmathethe\/Molapowabojang constituency.<\/p>\n

The VDC had selected one public servant whom they believed performed exceptionally well in carrying out their mandate.<\/p>\n

The initiative, by the area MP Dr Edwin Dikoloti, aims to motivate public service employees in his constituency to go an extra mile in delivering services to the public.<\/p>\n

When awarded her car in Mmathethe Friday, Ms Kowa said she was short of words to express her happiness, adding that she did not expect to win considering the 19 individuals she was up against.<\/p>\n

She attributed her success to passion and going an extra mile when assisting Lejwana residents.<\/p>\n

She advised other public servants to do the same in driving the mandate of their departments.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is vital to deliver services with love and residents will trust you with their lives.<\/p>\n

We all should have passion for our jobs as that will ensure effective service delivery,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She thanked Dr Dikoloti and all those who recognised her contribution to delivering services to Batswana.<\/p>\n

For his part, Dr Dikoloti, who is also the Minister of Health said he had engaged relevant stakeholders to determine what could be done to improve service delivery in his area.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was advised to provide something that will motivate workers to go an extra mile when carrying out their duties hence the awards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He underscored that as the drivers of government programmes, he wanted public servants to work hard in ensuring that President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi\u2019s Reset and Re-claim Agenda was realised.<\/p>\n

Dr Dikoloti further encouraged public servants to continue working hard to improve Batswana\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

Mmathethe deputy kgosi, Kgosi Rubean Mosala thanked Dr Dikoloti for having realised the need to motivate public servants.<\/p>\n

He said some of the public servants did not put much effort into delivering services to the people, noting that the conduct worked against the spirit of taking the country forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are public servants, therefore you have to ensure that you do your best in carrying out your various departments\u2019 mandate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Good Hope District Council chairperson, Mr Kenaleone Motsaathebe described Dr Dikoloti as someone with progressive ideas, noting that the initiative would surely motivate the employees.<\/p>\n

He said public servants were there to serve the nation as they drove government programmes, further encouraging them to work hard.<\/p>\n

He congratulated Ms Kowa on her win as well as all those who were nominated.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are all winners, you should be happy for having been recognised as the most performing at your various villages,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
