{"id":23203,"date":"2023-03-04T17:35:04","date_gmt":"2023-03-04T17:35:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/?p=23203"},"modified":"2023-03-04T16:27:40","modified_gmt":"2023-03-04T16:27:40","slug":"elephants-invade-southern-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/elephants-invade-southern-region","title":{"rendered":"Elephants invade southern region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Department of Wildlife and National Parks this week informed members of the public that a group of elephants has been spotted roaming around Radipalanyane, Mmakgopong, Lephala la motlopi, Masama and surrounding lands in the Kgatleng District.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The department advised the public to be extra vigilant and exercise caution when moving around these areas.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the department warned that the use of rifles and herding dogs to scare these animals should be avoided as well as any other form of noise as these may agitate them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny sightings of these elephants of anything suspected to be such animals should be reported to the nearest Wildlife office, nearest Police office or any government offices in the Kgatleng District,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>Last week the Department of Wildlife and National Parks also informed members of the public that a group of elephants had been spotted roaming around Matsheng villages (Shadishadi, Boatlamane, Loologane, Sojwe, Lephepe) and surrounding cattle posts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public is therefore advised to be extra vigilant and exercise caution when moving around these areas.
