Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Brigades have been implored to establish revenue generating avenues in the form of companies to grow and help resource brigades\u2019 programmes.<\/b><\/p>\n

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Aubrey Lesaso made the call when he visited Ghanzi brigade recently.<\/p>\n

These companies, he said would not only create wealth for the brigades but would create employment opportunities for brigades graduates, at the same time harnessing the concept of education with production.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis would be a source of inspiration for brigades\u2019 learners,\u201d he said, adding that the move would help graduates to gain experience and skills on how to operate a business which they can use to open and operate their own businesses.<\/p>\n

Mr Lesaso said these companies would have an opportunity to be engaged by government institutions in areas such as maintenance of infrastructure, which he said would come in handy for both parties.<\/p>\n

In her briefing, Ghanzi brigade principal, Ms Rosiah Mokoma said Ghanzi brigade was on transitional phase and the accreditation of new learning courses was taking long.<\/p>\n

New learning programmes expected to run to once approved, she said are livestock farming and management, auto-mechanic engineering, brick laying and plastering, music and electrical with a component of solar system .<\/p>\n

He said they were in talks with African Mining Services, which is contracted for opencast mining services at Sandfire Recourses\u2019 Motheo copper mine in Ghanzi to partner with them. \u201cWe are at Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) draft stage for them to attach our trainees.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also said the brigade instructors \/ trainers need to be retooled to be able to deliver the new programmes.<\/p>\n
