Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>New Age Arthur Group has pledged 200 scholarship for young female Batswana entrepreneurs aged 18-35 to attend a week-long training on the technicalities of business development at Boitekanelo College.<\/b><\/p>\n

Founder and Chief Pioneer of New Age Arthur Group, Mr Kealeboga Motsumi told a one-day conference attended by entrepreneurs and company cooperates, that the event was meant to augment the mind of a female entrepreneur.<\/p>\n

Mr Motsumi said his company, which hosted the conference, started an initiative called International Top Women Summit, under the theme: \u2018Bridging the wealth gap for women in business by realising problems and creating sustainable solutions\u2019.<\/p>\n

He said the theme also encouraged the girl-child, young and mature women to venture into the business environment and create sustainable solutions for the challenges they encounter.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we empower more females, they will make a huge impact in boosting the economy, since they are the majority in the country\u2019s population,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Motsumi said after training, they would create a continuous infinity line and fashion a progressive dialogue between themselves and the trainees.<\/p>\n

He said his own background had made him realise that young mothers, especially those who raise children alone, were disadvantaged.<\/p>\n

Mr Motsumi said in celebrating the International Women\u2019s day, they focused on equity, stressing \u2018equity is a situation where the environment is fair for everyone\u2019. He noted that most of mentorship programmes were ran by men, hence they were advocating for women to be included too.<\/p>\n

Boitshwarelo Lebang-Kgetse, said at in interview that the International Top Women Summit tied very well with the International Women\u2019s month and Botswana\u2019s Vision 2036.<\/p>\n

She said Botswana had sustainable development programmes to drive it to from a middle income economy to a high income one.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really want to see our women participating in the development of our economy, becoming real entrepreneurs who develop businesses and create jobs for others,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She further said they want women to think more about what they can bring to the economy, as opposed to what the government can do for them.<\/p>\n

Chief Executive Office of Africa Youth Entrepreneurs Summit, Ms Lemogang Senwelo, encouraged women to attend conferences targeted at empowering them in large numbers.<\/p>\n

She said women had more diverse duties than men, which she said gave them strong background to diversify the economy.<\/p>\n
