Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Minister of Agriculture, Mr Fidelis Molao and his entourage visited Butale Foot and Mouth Disease containment area to appreciate cattle holding and transportation of cattle from Butale to Maun Botswana Meat Commission for slaughtering.<\/b><\/p>\n

The purpose of the visit was to appreciate the process and its challenges.<\/p>\n

Minister Molao was informed that a total of 10 000 cattle were expected to be depopulated.<\/p>\n

Already, 2 784 cattle had been collected from farmers and compensation of farmers had commenced.<\/p>\n

The exercise is expected to be completed in June 2023.<\/p>\n

For his part, Mr Molao said suspension of cloven animals’ movement in Matsiloje and Matopi was lifted and he encouraged farmers to work with veterinary ofifcers.<\/p>\n
