{"id":24199,"date":"2023-03-20T15:05:14","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T15:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/community-health-care-provider-cooperation-key"},"modified":"2023-03-20T16:18:39","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T16:18:39","slug":"community-health-care-provider-cooperation-key","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/community-health-care-provider-cooperation-key","title":{"rendered":"Community health care provider cooperation key"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>Extension of Toromoja Health Post will bring the desired results if community members welcomed and cooperated with health care providers.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This was said by Acting President Slumber Tsogwane in Toromoja on Friday during the ground breaking ceremony for the project.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing concern that some community members were hell bent on making life unbearable for public officers, he warned that without cooperation between health care providers and clients, the facility would become a white elephant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrugs can be available, but when the patient and health worker\u2019s state of mind are inconsistent, there will be a challenge in service delivery,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tsogwane said the success of any health care facility was also dependent on the conduct of the medical personnel who were enablers of a conducive environment.<\/p>\n<p>He therefore implored health workers to uphold acceptable and good conduct as well as the highest profession standards.<\/p>\n<p>The project, which will see the health post upgraded to a clinic, includes construction of an ablution block, pharmacy, dispensary and general maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>The facility currently operates with only two rooms, two nurses and a midwife based in Xhumo.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tsogwane said the project would therefore improve access to quality health services.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tsogwane, who is MP for Boteti West challenged the medical personnel to be proactive by procuring drugs from Central Medical Stores on time and in the right quantities.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed concern that projects funded by government were not delivered on time and were often highly priced compared to those sponsored by the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>The acting president called for mindset change on project delivery in the public sector.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Minister of Health Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe commended the contractor, GKT Engineers and Contractors, for partnering with government in the donor-funded project as part of developing development Botswana and improving access to health services.<\/p>\n<p>Regional health coordinator Ms Gaebotho Kedikilwe said the project would greatly improve the situation at the health post where all services, including antenatal care and drug dispensation, were currently offered from the consulting room.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\">Botswana<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana.
