Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Alliance Francaise in collaboration with the University of Botswana French Department and Ministry of Education and Skills Development will celebrate the week of Francophonie with a series of free events and activities from March 20 to 25 this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview the Alliance Francaise Director Angelique Saverino said Francophonie week was an international annual celebration promoting French speaking language and francophone cultures.<\/p>\n

Saverino also said the celebration gives people an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the diversity of the francophone cultures.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to showcase the variety of artistic expressions, whether it is music, writing or photo in interaction with Batswana artists and dedicated to a good cause,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Activities that will form part of the day included the educational side dubbed \u2018IF Prof\u2019 which was launched on Monday.<\/p>\n

The IF Prof she said was a social network dedicated to the teachers of French and allowing them to share resources and content on teaching with the public and students.<\/p>\n

About the IF Profs she also said was an international platform of French teachers where a fruitful exchange of teaching and learning resources occurs between teachers, administrators and researchers in the French language from all over the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are privileged to be allowed to open the Botswana chapter of the same and the platform was inspired by the lack of teaching resources in French for teachers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said different schools will be given the chance to submit poetry recites and also present the poems under the theme \u2018A tous les temps\u2019 meaning have all the time.<\/p>\n

Winners of the competition will walk away with an annual membership to the AFG and the public was encouraged to partake in the poetry competition.<\/p>\n

Other planned activities include music entertainment, book launches and a flea market for second hand goods and the profits will be donated to Stepping Stones International.<\/p>\n
