Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>In its quest to empower women to be employable especially in the male dominated industry, Dulux Botswana has trained 11 women and one man on wall painting in Metsimotlhabe.<\/b><\/p>\n

The retooling exercise as a result saw the village kgotla buildings over the weekend sporting new looks after a face-lift by the re-skilled residents.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the painting of Metsimotlhabe kgotla buildings, Dulux general manager Mr Moses Muyaluka, said the training was a way of empowering the women and skilling them on painting, normally dominated by men or labelled as men\u2019s work. \u201cThe other aim of the project of face-lifting the Kgotla is to help in improving the economy by skilling women to be employable, especially with the increase of unemployment in the country,\u201d said he said.<\/p>\n

In his address Kgosi Seeletso Pule, appreciated Dulux Botswana for improving the look of the Kgotla and for contributing to job creation by empowering women to be self-employed, and be industry ready. \u201cIt shows that government is not alone in making job opportunities accessible and doable for both genders,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

One of the beneficiaries, Ms Dolly Serame expressed delight for the training, saying \u201cat the start, together with my team mates we learnt a lot about types of paints to use some of which we didn\u2019t know they existed,\u201d. The women said they would use the skill to make a living.<\/p>\n
