Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary General (SG) of the Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) Tshekedi Khama has warned Biggie Butale to \u201ccease and desist\u201d from addressing himself as president of the party following his alleged resignation on 20 March.<\/b><\/p>\n

Says a brief statement written by Tshekedi to Butale on 27 March: \u201cOn the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on the 20th March 2023 at Arirang Hotel in Gaborone, you and other NEC members did pronounce that you are resigning from the party and you walked out of the NEC meeting that you were presiding over.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement goes on to say inspite of Butale\u2019s alleged pronouncement, he continues to preside over BPF activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhilst your position of resignation is understood, we are surprised that you are now conducting party activities where you were spotted in the Eastern Region in Selebi-Phikwe where you also gave (an) address under the pretext that you are the BPF president,\u201d it says.<\/p>\n

Cease and desist <\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cWe therefore advice you to cease and desist from such. We will inform all the party structures and members of your resignation from the party.\u201d<\/p>\n

Butale was unavailable for comment as his line rang unanswered on Tuesday (yesterday).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, when he announced his resignation from the BPF last week, Samson Guma Moyo said that he and Butale had been accused by the patron of the party, Ian Khama, of fuelling chaos in the BPF.<\/p>\n

Guma noted that one of the reasons he decided to leave the BPF was that he couldn\u2019t work well with Khama.<\/p>\n

Khama has revealed that he will run for the presidency of the BPF at the party elective congress.<\/p>\n
