{"id":25051,"date":"2023-04-04T14:25:12","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T14:25:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/sefalana-banner-group-donates"},"modified":"2023-04-04T14:25:12","modified_gmt":"2023-04-04T14:25:12","slug":"sefalana-banner-group-donates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/sefalana-banner-group-donates","title":{"rendered":"Sefalana Banner group donates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>Sefalana Banner Group of Companies has donated 10 wheelchairs worth P25 000 to the National Disability Coordinating office.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the handover ceremony in Gaborone Thursday, permanent secretary in the Ministry for State President, Ms Goitsemang Morekisi said the donation was a generous gesture which was critically needed by people with disabilities (PWDs).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI therefore applaud the Sefalana Banner Group of Companies for heeding governments call for increased participation of Public Private Partnerships, especially for PWDs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Ms Morekisi said since the country had acceded to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) two years ago, it was compelled to adhere to the set guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed as government to promote a dignified life to PWDs,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, National Disability Coordination office director, Ms Peggy Garebaitse said providing PLWDs with assistive devices improved their quality of lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe often take mobility for granted, and we may not be aware that over a million people worldwide lack mobility and without devices their options were limited in ways beyond our comprehension,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Garebaitse said the devices would ensure enjoyment of a basic right that many had never experienced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an office mandated to monitor implementation of the CRPD, this gesture by your company is a positive indicator of a committed sector taking responsibility in achieving implementation of the CRPD Article 19 that speaks to liberty of movement and living independently by PWDs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>For her part, Sefalana Banner Group of Companies deputy chairperson, Ms Naledi Tsimanyane said as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and to cultivate and nurture the spirit of selflessness, they were more than happy to donate to such a deserving cause.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Tsimanyane said Banner Group of companies was made up of five local shops, which had joined forces with Sefalana to assist those in need around the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\">Botswana<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana.
